Alice in Dairyland Tree Planting and Dedication

May 6, 2010

Young children from the Mequon Campus Child Care Center helped Cheryl O'Brien, 2010 Alice in Dairyland, plant a “China Snow” lilac tree on campus. Jim Walczak of Leaf Land and Garden Center in Mequon donated the lilac tree, and Lied’s Nursery Company donated a hybrid oak tree to MATC in honor of O’Brien. Each year since 1977, Lied’s has donated a tree to the campus to remind the public of the importance of horticulture to Wisconsin’s economy. Robert Lied, grandson of the late Delmar Lied, who began the tradition, made the formal presentation to O’Brien. Alice in Dairyland represents Wisconsin agriculture and its products.
