Sweatshop Workers Speak Out

April 19, 2010

The MATC community turned out in large numbers to hear labor organizers call for an economy based on good jobs and an end to U.S. tax dollars supporting sweatshops worldwide. The panel featured Kalpona Akter, a former child factory worker and director of the Bangladesh Center for Worker Solidarity; Zehra Bano, general secretary of the Home-Based Women Workers Federation of Pakistan; and Trina Tocco, deputy director of the International Labor Rights Forum, which organized the tour.
