Gingerbread Pro Kickoff

November 6, 2017

Milwaukee Area Technical College announced an expansion of the annual gingerbread house competition held by the college’s Baking and Pastry Arts associate degree program and the Baking Production technical diploma program. In addition to the traditional competition, the "Gingerbread Pro" contest encourages students to build gingerbread house replicas of Miller Park and the new downtown arena that will be home to the Milwaukee Bucks. The Gingerbread Pro partnership announced Monday comes as the Brewers Community Foundation and the Milwaukee Bucks are helping to support student scholarships through the MATC Foundation, Inc. MATC President Dr. Vicki J. Martin; Milwaukee Bucks President Peter Feigin; Cecilia Gore, the executive director of the Brewers Community Foundation; and Rich Tennessen, president of Eppstein Uhen Architects, the firm that was lead local architect of both facilities, spoke at the kickoff event. Representatives of the Milwaukee Public Market and the Wisconsin Bakers Association, both longtime partners of MATC’s gingerbread house competition, also were on hand for the announcement.
